New Future – New Vision

At the end of Centre West’s first year of being a fully independent charity there is much to look back on and even more to look forward to.

The ten year New Deal for Communities programme that our resident led Board delivered, in partnership with a host of local agencies, came to an end in March 2010. Throughout that time local people working together have helped to build a legacy for the Centre West neighbourhoods of real improvements to residents’ lives.

This track record of success included: better homes and open spaces; jobs for residents and help for business; a safer community with less crime; more West End residents leading healthier lives; and local people achieving more through greater learning opportunities.

Local people have always been at the heart of our work to bring change to our neighbourhoods and Centre West is a charitable company with a community vision. We believe that communities, working together with service providers, can identify local issues and find solutions in ways that the public sector alone often finds difficult.

Our shared challenge is to sustain the improvements of the past few years - and to build on the area’s successes.

We might be starting with fewer resources, but with community support we’ve got plenty of vision!
