Local people changing the face of Arthur's Hill, Cruddas Park, Rye Hill and Elswick

Big things are happening in the West End of Newcastle - and it's all led by the community.

Centre West is an ambitious programme which has taken over from New Deal for Communities, after ten years of change in Arthur's Hill, Cruddas Park, Rye Hill, and Elswick.

During our time as New Deal we initiated more than 100 projects to tackle the big issues that matter in every community. That meant working towards a healthier future for local people, better homes to live in and a safer, more attractive environment.

We helped hundreds of local people into jobs and training, supported local businesses in getting started, took a stand against crime and strove to raise the standard of education in our area.

But we want to make sure that life carries on getting better in the West End now that our ten years' Government funding is coming to an end.

That means investing in assets to make sure our community has its own income - money that can help to pay for future regeneration work in the area.

It also means working with major service providers like the Council, Police and health service, to ensure that local people can continue to have a voice in the decisions which affect our lives. Find out more about our plans for the future here.
